Built design :

One good thing about the rear panel is that, due to it's finish one is no longer concerned about the fingerprints. On the innovative aspect, Samsung has incorporated two circular clips (as in image) on the back of Tab S for it's smart cover, for the ease of clipping.
The plus points for Tab S, are the Super AMOLED display boasting WQXGA resolution. The Galaxy Tab S is also the slimmest (6.6mm) and lightest (465/294 grams) tablet in Samsung’s portfolio.
Talking of specifications, the bigger 10.5-inch tablet features a 7,900mAh battery, while the 8.4-inch has a 4,900mAh battery.

You also get a fingerprint reader, hidden beneath the home buttons!!

The tablets flaunt a Super AMOLED display with WQXGA resolution (2560×1600 pixels) that translates into 288ppi for the 10.5-inch variant and 359ppi for the 8.4-inch variant.

Specifications:

  •  The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 in India is powered by an octa-core Exynos 5 SoC (four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores) coupled with 3GB of RAM.
  • While the international version of the tablet packs a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with integrated LTE functionality.
  • The tablets also feature an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.
  • They run on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, wrapped under Samsung’s Magazine UI.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 draws power from a 4,900mAh battery, while its bigger brother comes with a 7,900mAh unit.
  • The Indian variants of the two devices come with 16GB storage along with the option of expanding it further up to 128GB via microSD cards.

The tablet also offers software features such as SideSync 3.0 which allows Galaxy S5 users to mirror their smartphones over Wi-Fi direct. This means Galaxy S5 owners will be able to make and receive calls, and share content on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

  • The other common connectivity features include 3G, Wi-Fi MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0 and IR blasters (works in conjunction with the WatchOn app to control TVs).

On the overall sense, though the tablets are priced high enough, but the range of impressive features and attractive sepcifications are sure to act as an advantage for it's success in the price conscious market.

Google Play Updates to Change our casual Gaming Experience

In a presentation by Duncan Curtis, he revealed all that's new with Google Play.
The main goals for the new Play Experience is a central profile management and increasing game engagement.

Game Profiles

Have your own Level in the entire "Play World". You could be Level 20 Jim, and tell everyone how much of a gaming freak you are.
How is leveling system works is by gaining points

  • Every game will get to allocate a total of 1000 points, ie the more games you play the more points you can gain.
  • You gain points by completing game achievements say defeating a boss or completing some levels.

I'm still not sure how giving points will work across games with different difficulties. Depending on the game it could be hard or easy to gain points, and a "true" gamer will always play the hard games. So Google Play shows he is less of a gamer?

You can also compare this profile with your friends.
Something interesting is that you are given a title according to categories you have most points in!
You'll get titles like "SpeedRacer" that would mean you mostly plays racing games or "Puzzle Master" for people loving puzzle games.

Quests

Quests are time bound missions, set by the developers of the game.
Think of it as daily or weekly challenges in the game. Completing quests will give you rewards.
The new Play API and developer console makes it very easy for a game developer to create quests and rewards for its users.
The developer console will provide all the monitoring, analytics and too without changing their games.
The play app will keep showing you the Current quests for all the games you have played, so you may re-engage on an old game.

Save Game Anywhere

Now games will be saved in the cloud so you can resume playing where you left anywhere.

The Play games app will properly show a thumbnail with a screenshot of your save, a description, and a timestamp, so you will be able to just look and know if it is the point you want to resume from.

Google's 'Android Auto' takes Driving to Whole New Experience

A demonstration of Android Auto at Google I/O 2014

There won't be any Android OS in the car's dashboard.
Google Maps will come with voice-enabled version for Android Auto. Google Map will guide you turn-by-turn to your destination; without ever touching the dashboard. When you connect your phone to car while en-route home, it will automatically show your preferred driving habits based on information from Google and Google Now ( Google loves collecting data on us ). Navigation screen with various shortcuts to access music, call and apps

Android Auto sounds much like Apple's CarPlay and interface looks familiar to Google Now.

Google also unveiled the Android Auto SDK for developers to quickly offer their apps in user's vehicles. Various partners like Pandora, Spotify, Stitcher and Songza have already signed on. According to Google, 25 car manufacturers have already extended their support for the first Android Auto-compatible vehicles this year.

Big deal with Android Auto is, Google loves collecting data on us, it will give direct access to Google when and where the owner is at particular instance, what are owner's preferred places say -restaurants, cafes, shops, how they use navigation system, what you search on the go, what you prefer to listen, whom they call and texts, and much more.
With the data collection by Android Auto, Google will enter in drivers mind.
We can expect Android Auto compatible only to Android L by end of 2014.
